Lisa Breslin
Communications manager
Where were you working before Nucleus and what was your role?
I was working at Standard Life as an Internal Communications Consultant.
Why did you decide to join Nucleus?
There seemed to be a great energy about the company and I loved the fact that Nucleus was using so many new communications channels – and using them well.
What are you trying to achieve in your role with Nucleus?
I want to keep learning – about the company, about the industry, about new forms of communication and about myself. Alongside this, I want to help make sure that Nucleus keeps one step ahead in both our external and internal communications.
Which historical figure do you most admire and why?
Elizabeth Taylor. After her death I read an article about how she was a real trail blazer for females in the film industry and was a fierce campaigner for aids back in the 80s when people were still too scared to even talk about it publicly. She wasn’t perfect of course - seven marriages (two of which were to Richard Burton) and numerous affairs - but she was a formidable character. You’ve got to admire that, and her jewel collection…
What is your favourite journey?
Along the north coast of Scotland and through Orkney – beautiful scenery, great beaches, and a great road trip to take with friends.
What’s the best concert you ever attended?
It’s a toss-up between Ash with Idelwild as support act at the Barrowlands or Luther Vandross at the SECC. My taste in music is quite diverse.
What super-power would you most like to have and why?
Teleportation. I love traveling, but as someone once said to me – the only rubbish thing about traveling is the actual traveling. It would also be great for my daily Glasgow to Edinburgh commute…
If you were to have dinner with three people, who would they be?
Billy Connelly, Bruce Lee and my brother – Billy for the laughs, Bruce for the action and the philosophy and my brother because I know he’d love to have dinner with them both and I couldn’t not invite him.
